RETROSPECTIVE:

The real Mr Malynowsky! (As featured
in The Magick Bookshop). Note the bottle of vodka
to the left, and the rather full ashtray! He liked his
tobacco...

And again. Spirits getting frisky
with the books! Both rather comical shots taken at Christmas
- somewhat under the 'fluence methinks. There's a story
about the consumption of large amounts of vodka with
Mr Malynowsky in the upcoming Magick in the West
End.

Kala Trobe in 1989

1992, Atlanta.
I'd just arrived from London and was enjoying my first
drink ever on American soil :)

In Hampi, India,
in 1998, gathering inspiration and information for Invoke
the Goddess

...and a much more recent shot, taken
at Avebury Stone Circle on Samhain...

...And again.
Both photos by Chris McKernan.

At the summit of Sri Lanka's holiest
mountain, Adam's Peak, in November 2002, also climbed
by Crowley and Alan Bennett. Definitely the most sacrosanct
place I've ever encountered, sacred to Buddhists, Hindus,
Muslims, Christians and this witch alike. It took about
5 hours to climb at a swift pace. No, I didn't do it
in the sarong! There are altars all along the way, including
several to Samsa, the Hindu-Buddhist god specific to
this mountain. At the top is a Temple at the centre
of which is a gigantic footprint, which the Buddhists
say is Buddha's, the Muslims say is Mohammed's, and
the Xtians insist is Adam's. Whatever the case, it kicks,
energy-wise.
Then spent some time lurking in
Bangkok and the Thai Jungle.

I had a most entertaining encounter
with a blizzard in New York in February 2003. 7ft snowdrifts
in Manhattan...not quite what I was expecting! Seen
below in China Town.
...And, for contrasting weather,
in Sedona, Arizona.

One of the best things about travelling
is meeting other authors and witchies. Here are photos
taken with some of my favourites.

With Barbara
Ardinger and Ed
Fitch at A Krystal Moon in Los Angeles at the end
of May 2003.

Again in L.A. Front left: Llewellyn
publicists Gerry and Lisa. Back left, Raven
Grimassi and his Priestess, Stephanie. Back right,
unfortunately hidden, Donald
Michael Kraig. Then Christopher
Penczak , me looking goofy, and Richard
Webster.

Kala with Radcliff Morris in New
Orleans. She didn't want to be photographed, but the
beer is hers :) Radcliff wrote a fantastic section 'The
Witch and Running' for 'The Witch's Guide to Life'.
Cheers Radcliff :)

With Catherine
Wishart & Ellen
Dugan at INATS, Colorado, at the end of June 2003.

No trip is complete without at least
one night on the tiles, which is what we did directly
after this photo was taken. There's actually a darkwave
scene in Denver, praise be to Hecate!! Raven Digitalis to the left, and that's Llewellyn's Beth Scudder
sandwiched between Kala Trobe and Christopher
Penczak.

With Karen Lee at the Witchcraft
Seminars in Cornwall, in October 2003. I gave a talk
on The Hidden Masters of Theosophy and Thelema, and
the links between the two. The audience was adorably
patient :) See www.witchcraftseminar.com.
Also visited the wonderful Museum
of Witchcraft in Boscastle...which has since been flooded.
An appeal to help save the many amazing exhibits (which
includes the biggest collection of magickal mandrakes
in the world!) has been launched: see www.museumofwitchcraft.com

In Holywell Cemetery, Oxford, burial
place of many a luminary, & featured in the story
'Karma-burner' in 'The Magick Bookshop'.
